About this timer

This timer is set to the classic Pomodoro rhythm: 25 minutes of focus, a 5-minute break, and a 15-minute long break after every fourth block. Press start and it runs through the whole cycle on its own, with a soft chime at each switch.

How to use it

Write down one task before you start — not a list, one thing. Start the timer and work on only that until the chime. When it rings, stop, even mid-sentence, and take the break away from the screen.

After four blocks the timer gives you a longer break. Take it. The long break is what keeps the fifth and sixth blocks from feeling like wading through mud.

Why 25 minutes works

Twenty-five minutes is short enough that starting does not feel like a commitment, and long enough to get something real done. Its main job is not to maximise output, it is to make beginning cheap — which is where most procrastination actually lives.

Once starting stops being the hard part, try longer blocks. The 25 is a convention, not a law.

Common questions

What is a Pomodoro timer?

A timer that alternates 25 minutes of focused work with 5-minute breaks, adding a longer break after every four blocks. The name comes from the tomato-shaped kitchen timer the technique was first developed with.

Is this Pomodoro timer free?

Yes, completely. It runs in your browser with no account. An optional free account saves your sessions and statistics.

Can I change the 25 minutes?

Yes — adjust the focus length, short break, long break and number of blocks below the timer. The structure matters more than the exact numbers.
